About the role
This role is ideal for an engineer who likes balancing architecture with execution. You’ll have the opportunity to make technical decisions, build new product capabilities from the ground up, and work closely with Product and Design to deliver features that customers rely on every day.
Rather than maintaining legacy systems, you’ll spend your time building new functionality, improving platform scalability, and helping establish engineering best practices as the company continues to grow.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop new product features from concept through deployment.
- Own technical projects that require thoughtful system design and long-term scalability.
- Improve application performance, reliability, and maintainability across the platform.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and fellow engineers to turn business ideas into intuitive software.
- Review code, contribute to architectural decisions, and help maintain a high engineering standard.
- Build APIs and backend services that support a growing customer base.
- Contribute to AI-powered product initiatives, integrating modern language models where they create meaningful customer value.
- Help automate development workflows and continuously improve deployment processes.
- Support and mentor other engineers through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Professional experience building applications with Ruby on Rails.
- Strong understanding of backend architecture and scalable web applications.
- Experience working with cloud-hosted applications and modern deployment workflows.
- Comfortable owning projects from planning through production.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience working in fast-moving startup or product-focused environments.
- A proactive mindset and a genuine interest in building high-quality software.
Bonus Points
- Experience working with AI-powered products or integrating LLMs into production applications.
- Familiarity with vector search, retrieval systems, or agent-based workflows.
- Exposure to microservices or event-driven architectures.
- Contributions to open-source projects or technical communities.
- Experience with frontend technologies beyond Rails.
