Our partner helps companies in Latin America offer dollar accounts, automate payouts, and integrate with financial systems through a single API. Their mission is to make it easier and safer for startups, lenders, and wallets to build financial products on top of a modern backend.
Founded in 2023, they’re now a team of 17 people distributed across Argentina, Mexico, and the US. Most of the engineering team comes from product-led companies in LATAM, and they’re backed by investors including Better Tomorrow Ventures, QED LATAM and early operators from the region’s top fintechs.
👀About the role
They’re looking for a Cloud Engineer to join their team and take ownership of infrastructure. You’ll work closely with backend engineers and help define how services are deployed, monitored, and scaled. They’re early enough that your work will shape how the company grows and mature enough to have real customers and production systems in place.
You’ll help build the internal platform that supports developers, strengthen cloud security, and ensure reliability as volume increases.
💜 Responsibilities
- Manage and scale AWS infrastructure (IAM, VPC, ECS, RDS, Lambda)
- Define and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and internal tooling
- Set up monitoring and alerting (Datadog, CloudWatch)
- Support secure, scalable service deployments with backend engineers
- Help prepare infrastructure for SOC2 and other compliance needs
👉 Requirements
- 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure roles
- Experience with financial products is a plus
- Strong experience with AWS and production environments
- Proficiency with Terraform or another IaC tool
- Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions)
- Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (like Prometheus, Datadog, etc.)
- Comfortable working in small teams and start-ups

This is what to expect:
- Intro call with the kala team 💜 (30 min) – We’ll give you context on the company and role, and learn more about your background
- Meeting with the Dev team 🧩 (45 min) – You’ll discuss how infrastructure and product connect, how you’ve worked with cross-functional teams, and walk through examples from your past experience, there will be some technical questions here
- Meeting with the CTO 🙋♂️ (30 min) – Get into the vision of the product and main challenges to solve
- Final team call 🤝 (30 min) – Make sure there’s good alignment and space for questions on both sides.
This is a full-time contractor role, paid in USD. You’ll have 30 days of paid time off per year, plus local holidays. After three months, you’ll get a $1,000 budget to upgrade your remote setup. The day-to-day is flexible, but they value ownership, clear communication, and working async when possible.
