Through a dynamic process that involved interviewing over 16 candidates and continuously refining our approach as a team, we navigated the unknowns and pivot many times. 🚀 ​The Challenge

This remote-first team wanted to hire a Demand Generation Manager, a role that wasn’t a replacement or tied to a specific account but rather a new position. They were keen to explore Latin American talent while simultaneously interviewing candidates locally in the US.

Although they had team members in the region, this senior-level role was more specialized than previous positions they had dealt with. Consequently, they lacked specific connections for this type of role, necessitating a fresh start in building networks and understanding local market dynamics. While there was no specific deadlines with this role, the goal was to find the ideal fit rather than rushing into a decision.

“We went through a few issues where we’d do an interview and realize that what we thought we wanted wasn’t exactly what we wanted. Felt like we were taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back. The fact that the role was new and there was no rush underscored its importance. Finding someone who could integrate seamlessly into the team and bring added value was key, we navigated a new process, but were open to interviewing, pivoting, collaborating actively, and designing a process that yielded the expected results. While everything was well before, there was an opportunity to grow as a team with this new hire.💹

🚀 ​The Solution

We knew our partner had been searching for the perfect match for a while, and we needed a strategy that would make both candidates and our partner go “Wow!” Marketing can be tricky because it is a huge area, job titles vary between companies, and individuals often wear many hats. Our focus was specifically on Demand Generation, requiring someone with a proven and solid background in this area.

Given that this role was new and reported directly to the CEO, we were in search of a real star.

We brainstormed the idea of firstly focusing on sourcing through agencies and companies specializing in such services. During the sourcing and interview process, our goal was not only to assess candidates’ experiences but also to gauge the potential impact they could have on the team. This included understanding their strategic approach, initial steps they might take, and their insights into our challenges.

We interviewed 16 candidates from all over LATAM and collaborated closely with our partner to adapt and redefine the job description along the way. Perhaps we found the perfect match taking into account the JD, but then we realized that additional expertise could be a huge plus, so we took that info to go to the market again. It was a collaborative effort, where we worked hand-in-hand with our partner to readapt the JD, understand the market, and learn from the interviews.

In the end, our strategy wasn’t just about finding a fit; our focus was to make both candidates and our partner go “Wow!” and find a perfect match with someone who could envision themselves working and growing together.

We were able to find the perfect match our partner was looking for. It wasn’t a short process, but one where both the candidate and the company felt they found each other at the perfect timing.

Introducing new roles that were entirely new for the team and didn’t exist before brought some challenges initially. We had to understand what we were looking for without previous references or something to compare against.

The work culture and collaboration exceeded expectations, providing an enriching experience and process for both parties and the happy end about growing the team internationally again.
